In 1998, after completing my graduation followed by advanced multimedia design training from Delhi and Hyderabad, I found myself at a defining crossroads. Drawing and sketching had been my lifelong passions, and having just finished my formal training in multimedia and graphic design, the big question was: what next? One thing was absolute—I didn’t want a standard 9-to-5 job; I was driven to build my own business.
History Behind Safe-Era

Returning Home in 1998 After Studies
In 1998, after completing my studies in Hyderabad, I returned home to a quiet town called Ghodadongri (District Betul, MP).

The Big Question: What Next?
I faced the ultimate choice: Job or Business? Standard employment wasn't for me—I was determined to launch my own venture, but needed the right direction.

My father Gave Me An Idea!
That was when my father — a senior officer in a coal mining company — suggested a breakthrough: 'You have a natural flair for art and design. Why not design safety posters specifically for coal mines and supply them across India?
That single suggestion set everything in motion. After deep deliberation, the vision became clear, and Safe-Era was born — a name directly inspired by the Hindi concept of ‘Surakshit-Yug‘.

Let's Do It
With a clear focus, I officially launched Safe-Era in February 1999.

Started Sketching....but Not Satisfied
The company was set up, but the real challenge was deciding what kind of posters to make. Standard safety slogans felt generic, so the brainstorming continued for months.

But One Day...Watching That TV Show.....
Around that time, the popular TV show 'India's Most Wanted' was airing real-life crime reenactments. Watching it sparked a sudden insight: Why not design safety posters based on actual fatal accident reports?
The Artist's Insight & Mine Workers
People routinely ignore generic safety advice. But a visual depiction of an actual accident? That commands immediate attention. As an artist, I knew that visual storytelling communicates far deeper than plain words.
R&D for Workers
By mid-1999, months were spent perfecting a format that would resonate with everyone—especially frontline mine workers. We developed a clear, 4-panel sequence showing step-by-step how a real accident occurred, ending with the statement: ‘Based on an actual fatal accident.’ After 6 months of intense work, our first 10 posters were ready.

10 Posters Ready!
By October 1999, my first 10 original poster designs were finalized and ready for print.
Featured above are the original ‘Actual Accident Safety Posters‘ created by Safe-Era in 1999. Designed as 3 to 5-panel visual sequences, they transformed complex accident reports into easy-to-understand visual stories for frontline workers. By showing exact cause and consequence, workers instantly grasped the hazard—ensuring the same mistake was never repeated.

My First Efforts Took Shape...
Seeing my original drawings transformed into large-format prints was an incredible feeling!
Understanding that industrial clients need to see actual print quality before ordering, I took the ultimate leap: I took the files to Delhi and printed 1,000 copies of each design. Safe-Era had built an inventory of 10,000 physical posters before receiving a single order.
The Bold Inventory Gamble

Time For Marketing
In November 1999, I packed my bags and launched my very first nationwide marketing tour.
Safety managers were amazed by the concept of real-life accident reenactments. Starting from local mines, I personally visited coal company headquarters across India to demonstrate and supply the posters.
Nationwide Outreach & Immediate Impact

My First Major Order!
Within 15 days of my tour, I returned home with orders worth ₹3 Lakhs in hand!

Time For Delivery...
I personally packed and dispatched every single order on time—a deeply gratifying experience.

Hard-Earned Success
By March 2000, receiving our first major payments made all the risk and hard work completely worth it.
From 1999 to 2003, we consistently expanded our collection—adding new real-life accident reenactments and general safety themes every year, supplying coal mines nationwide.

Constant Innovation
Fueled by client trust, I continuously developed new visual safety formats and expanded our product range.

The Growth Cycle
Over the next 3 to 4 years, this dedicated cycle of creation, printing, and nationwide supply established Safe-Era as a trusted brand.
In 2003, Safe-Era expanded into the broader industrial market, starting with Nagpur and rapidly reaching major industrial hubs across India. Within a decade, our safety solutions were installed in almost every major manufacturing plant.
Soon after, we ventured into government and institutional tenders. Over the years, Safe-Era successfully executed major long-term contracts—including multi-year printing contracts for Western Coalfields Ltd., monthly/annual magazine publication tenders for Goa Shipyard Ltd., specialized projects for Central Railway, and exporting custom safety signage to multinational firms in Dubai (DMI)
